INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
SSL were approached by long standing client Scene my Event to come up with a design for sound and lighting in a new nightclub in Manchester located at the famous Manchester Hall. After discussions with the client we came up with a stage based lighting design to create a real impact from the front of the room. We used a mixture of Chauvet Professional fixtures including beams, spots and moving pix bars to create this impact. We placed these on podiums around the DJ booth incorporating them into the decor of the venue. We also position fixtures above the grand pillars in the venue this gave us the ability to downlight these pillars but also enabled us to get moving fixtures positioned around the large space to enhance the atmosphere away from stage. This lighting was controlled via Chamsys control both at the rack on a computer and at stage by iPad which enabled flexibility and ease of control.
For sound the client and venue already had a Sound System installed that they wanted to reuse, This was an EV system. We took down the system and brought it back to our warehouse. SSL technicians serviced and replaced all necessary loudspeaker drivers and components ready to be reinstalled into the venue. This was an 8 point system with 2 speakers being placed in each corner of the room. This was supported by 4no. Single 18inch bass bins. The difficulty was that being a listed building speakers could only be placed in certain areas in the room, however with careful BSS processing our sound engineer created a clear sound.
